Studying a new language is challenging, tough, and demanding, but at the same time, it’s a captivating journey that opens up a lot of opportunities. Most of you will agree with me that speaking is one of the complicated parts of studying English. When we read articles or books, it’s much easier to understand what we read. When we listen to podcasts, watch videos, or movies, we can grasp the general meaning. But when it comes to real conversation, this is a completely different matter. Many words just slip our minds. We mix them up and additionally struggle to recall grammar rules.
Practice Speaking English
Why does this happen? Reasons can be different, but one of them is the distinction between passive and active vocabulary. The passive vocabulary consists of words we understand when reading a text or hearing them but are not yet able to use. The active vocabulary contains words that we can use in speaking and writing. The passive vocabulary is always more extensive than the active vocabulary.
Our main goal is to transfer words that are stored in our passive vocabulary to the active one. How to do this? The best way is through PRACTICE. Regularly practicing English conversation is the key if you want to become fluent in English. However, it is difficult to find an English-speaking partner, especially if we don’t live in an English-speaking country.
